Humans never stopped yearning for new images – imaginations, writings on the wall, a stain, a splatter, some cloud formations, and many more — all these randomly and infinitely generate visuals and forms that tickle the mind to seek for what lies beyond. Have we seen everything? What other visuals can excite our eyes?
“1” surveyed what else could be done on grounds, surfaces and planes and how far materials could be manipulated in creating unique images. Attacking a clean slate, and producing a balanced composition that fits in the four corners of this ground, was the common denominator that each artist had to address. However, a different creative experimental approach placed each piece unique from each other.
The entire process was a challenge called upon by Vetro Gallery for their first art exhibit of the year, aptly titled “1”, and the response was met by a tour de force of artists ready to answer with their creative interpretations.

Vetro Gallery owner Michael Cheng dedicated the space as a showroom for his business of glass interiors and fixtures while hosting unique high-end furniture from Filipino designers like Ann Pamintuan. Once in a while, Vetro played the host for Cheng’s passion of photography, acting as a studio for commercial photography.

For the first time, it considered changing its identity to that of an art gallery, and it raised the bar with the inclusion of some of the best talents in the art industry today.
The gallery launch, held late January to coincide with the opening of “1”, featured fresh works from all the artists, completely transforming the walls of Vetro into unique portals of imagination. The art definitely spoke for itself, and the celebration of the art and artists continued on until the end of February.
