Alliance Française de Manille proudly presents a classical guitar concert of Duo Harmonique featuring the French classical guitarist, Thibault Momper, and Philippine classical guitarist, Marga Abejo-Momper. The concert will happen on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the Alliance Française de Manille Multi-Purpose Hall at 7:30 pm.
Thibault started playing guitar at the age of 7 and completed his degrees in Classical guitar, Music Theory, Music History and Chamber Music (the latter at the age of 13), at the Music Conservatory of Nancy (C.N.R. de Nancy). He then perfected his classical guitar studies at the prestigious post-graduate Music Conservatory of Paris (Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris), taking part in Roland Dyens’ and Jean-Marc Zvellereuther’s classes and graduating in 2001, three years after his enrollment, with highest distinction. Prior to his studies in CNSM, he was enrolled in C.N.R de la Courneuve under Alberto PONCE (France). He also participated in master classes with Jourgos PANETSOS (Greece), Vladimir MIKULKA (Rép. Tchèque), Claudio MARCOTULLI (Italy), Philippe VILLA (France), Eduardo CATEMARIO (Italy), Roberto AUSSEL to name a few.
His teaching career began right after, first of all at the Nancy Conservatory, where he served three years as a guitar teacher, and secondly at the Music Conservatory of Luxembourg, where he works as a classical guitar professor. Parallel to that, he is holding guitar classes at the European School in Luxembourg.
His resume includes several international prizes (Italy, England, and France). As a musician, he is actively involved in different projects encompassing various styles, from jazz to tango, from electro to classical music. As a composer, he is currently working on several arrangement and musical pieces.
MARGA ABEJO - MOMPER
Margarita Abejo started playing guitar at the age of 15. She enrolled in the UP extension program in third year high school under Barney Fojas. She continued with classical guitar and graduated from DCPMA-BM Music Education in the UP College of Music. She was trained in guitar concentration by Lester Demetillo and Jose Valdez. She was given the opportunity to travel and play with the UP Guitar Orchestra as well as participate in guitar festivals abroad and in the Philippines. She has also written a guitar method book entitled “String Theory”, a sight-reading learning method for children. Currently she is working on classical guitar projects and a duet group with her husband, Thibault Momper.
She was one of the founders of the award-winning guitar ensemble “Triple Fret” and with the group, she attended master classes with Tomonori Arai, Alexis Vallejos, David Russell, Carlos Bonnell, Rafael Serrallet, Carsten Linck, Lester Demetillo, and other influential guitarists. They were awarded first prize in the Guitar Ensemble Category in the 2014 Tarrega Malaysia International Festival in Klang Malaysia and first prize in the 27th Japan Guitar Ensemble Festival 2015 in Tokyo, Japan. She also traveled to the Netherlands, Spain, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, and Turkey for concerts and performances. Her influence in the group helped spark the classical guitar revolution in young people in the Philippines.
