ABOUT ANG INK |
Ang Ilustrador ng Kabataan (Ang INK) is an association of artists committed to the creation and promotion of illustrations for children. Founded in 1991, it is Ang INK's objective to set up an effective linkage and communication network among and between artists, writers, publishers, and educators engaged in the production of children's books and other visual materials that include but are not limited to children’s content.

Since 2013, Ang INK has regularly organized an annual one-day event called INKFest, a celebration of children’s literature through visual art. Open to the public, the organization holds activities that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and all backgrounds. Ang INK also provides a space for INK members to showcase their talent via a mini exhibit, live art, and selling booths with original art and artist merchandise. There are also talks by members and influential people from the children’s book industry who wish to share their experiences, processes, and insights about the field.
INKfest promotes the joy of getting lost in a book and developing the imagination at a young age. It is the organization’s way of championing Filipino children’s literature and local talent. Last year’s INKFest was a success with over 350 attendees, a mini-exhibit and portrait drawing booth by Ang INK members, a well-attended creative talk series (speakers were Robert Alejandro, Manix Abrera, Pepper Roxas, and Ramon Sunico), with positive feedback on social media.

INKFEST 2015
This year’s INKfest, co-presented by Fully Booked, will be held on October 24 (Saturday), 10AM-7PM, at Fully Booked Top Shelf BGC. It is is envisioned to be a grander event compared to the past INKFests, with a bigger venue and more art activities in the works. This year’s theme, Childhood, aims to awaken everyone’s inner child and to open a world of infinite possibilities. By making contemporary pieces that connect to the INKies own childhood memories -from the painstakingly created artworks to the tiny decorations that brighten up the venue- they try to uncover different, intimate, and yet familiar worlds. INKFest 2015 also aims to promote the organization’s incoming 25th anniversary big event in 2016.
