Despite the inflexibly singular and self centered exercise and solitary nature of artistic labor, some of the most compelling artworks can be done in collaborative approaches. Informed by generosity, mutuality and reproach, creators share and flirt artistic impulses together even as they embrace creative conflict of feelings and thinking. As in this attempt, distant media and sporadic forms: text/literature, photographs, paintings and functional objects collide to find correspondence between artists and their jointly processed works. In the course of engaging a dialogue, hierarchies, authorship and identities are blurred and they agree to freely find intersections and to tentatively end and cohere where they should. Imperatively, mutual creative efforts openly invite together alien aspects to their works, meld together their individual subjectivities, ideas and intentions and to work in genuine complicity with each other. As a result, these paired collaborations become transitional spaces and become interesting exercise of experiment, chance and tentativeness resulting to unbidden charms of possible harmonies, slippages and likely tendencies of hit and miss which is all part of their evolved artistic register. They lead to a whole new reality whether in terms of representation, engagement or agency hoping that they resonate formally, intellectually and affectively.
WIPO's "Press X Press" abstract show will run from Sept 16, 2016 till Sept 30, 2016 at NOVA Gallery.
