A performance Tribute will be given on Thursday, April 14 at 6 p.m. to three individuals who were proclaimed National Artists in 2009 and six National Artists whose proclamations were signed by President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III in 2014 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ Main Theater. Conferment rites for the new National Artists will be held in the afternoon of Thursday at the Malacañan Palace.
The Consulate of Georgia in the Philippines, led by Consul (a.h.) Thelmo Cunanan Jr, the Dean of the Corps of Honorary Consuls of Georgia, has organized a successful three-city European art roadshow of Georgian-inspired paintings. The exhibitions were held in Innsbruck, Austria; Bratislava, Slovakia; and Paris, France from November 29 to December 13, 2015.

LTD, announced Maria Taniguchi as the recipient of the HUGO BOSS ASIA ART Award for Emerging Asian Artists 2015. Maria Taniguchi (b. 1981, Philippines) was selected from six nominated artists: Guan Xiao (Mainland China), Huang Po-Chih (Taiwan), Moe Satt (Myanmar), Vandy Rattana (Cambodia), and Yang Xinguang (Mainland China), whose works are displayed at RAM from October 30, 2015 to January 3, 2016.
Ondřej Neff, notable Czech writer, journalist and photographer, author of more than two dozen science fiction books, visited the Philippines to launch his short story collection in English translation. At Uno Morato café and bookshop, the premier speculative fiction hub in Quezon City, he met with local writers and readers.
In the spirit of celebrating and engaging the bold, complex and multifaceted Philippine artistic community, Don Papa is hosting the Don Papa Art Competition. The Don Papa Art Competition is an open call to Filipino artists to reimagine the Don Papa canister design. The winning artwork will be used on a limited edition canister gift pack for Don Papa Rum and will be distributed nationwide in the Philippines.
Interested parties are encouraged to submit their proposals by November 13, 2015.
HUGO BOSS ASIA ART: Award for Emerging Asian Artists opened on October 29, 2015 at Rockbund Art Museum (RAM) in Shanghai, presenting artworks by six nominated artists; Guan Xiao (Mainland China), Huang Po-Chih (Taiwan), Moe Satt (Myanmar), Maria Taniguchi (Philippines), Vandy Rattana (Cambodia), and Yang Xinguang (Mainland China). Building on the success of the first edition in 2013, the second edition of the award in 2015 continues to honour emerging contemporary artists who are in the early stages of their artistic creation and exhibition practices. The exhibition is open to the public from October 30, 2015 to January 3, 2016.
Curated by RAM and developed closely together with the participating artists, the exhibition demonstrates the rich diversity of practices these artists are developing in Asia. The selection of artworks ranges from painting to video art; from sculpture to installation and performance; from anthropological research to more conceptual and poetic representations; from observation of the localities to their formulation into a universal artistic statement.
